Hint. It's a Fashion Magazine

I don't know much about fashion. Just ask my students. But Hint Fashion Magazine (ezine) seems to cover a lot of territory. It covers clothing trends, cultural trends, and cosmetics. Those of you choosing this field for your career might find some of the information here helpful from a current fashion point of view and also some hints as to companies or people to contact for that entry in the field.

Reviews in Four Words

Try it sometime. Give a complete movie review using only four words. That's what happens at the Four Word Film Review. Anyone can submit a movie review with the stipulation that it contain no more than four words. If you're a journalist or future movie reviewer, this is great practice for developing short, descriptive headlines. Here are some examples: Almost Famous (2000) "Magazine uses child labor." Clerks (1994) "Bored employees discuss countermeasures." Lost World (1997) "Lost world found."

America's First Phonecam Art Show

The name of the show was Sent. It consisted of phonecam photos and ran from July 10-17 of this year. The show is still alive and well on the Internet. Not only does it have many of the photos from the original show but it also requests phonecam photo submissions from the general public. I was somewhat hesitant about the quality one could expect from a phonecam but, in the hands of artists, many of the photos are amazing.

Spectrum Job Search

The Canadian Spectrum Job Search Centre may be a useful tool for finding jobs in Canada. A number of syndicated television shows are produced up in Canada. While these production companies have to hire a quota of Canadian citizens they still hire American citizens to do some of the work for them. This site does not specialize in jobs in the entertainment industry but does have postings when searched correctly. More traditional job listings exist at this site also. If you're not opposed to move to your job there are worse places than Canada.
